The history of this Majestic breed can be traced back as far as 3000
B.C. Manuscripts as well as pictures drawn on temple walls show the breed being walked by Egyptian men.
The Assyrians are believed to have traded these dogs to the Romans
whom breed them with other breeds which it is believed many mastiff breed dogs today originated from this Majestic breed.
Breeds such as the English Mastiff and the Tibetan Mastiff.
This Majestic breed has been used threw out history for many different
tasks. They were used in hunting sports such as wild boar hunting, and they have been Guard dogs used from Castles
to modern day homes! They truly are multi-talented creatures.
They have also been given the name of "Gentle Giants".
They are wonderful with children, they make excellent pets and I truly believe many are detured from pet ownership of these
dogs due to there size and false belief that they will eat you out of house and home. As a general rule these dogs are
calm and gentle to all who belong in there home children and the elderly alike. Far as there eating habits a mature
Great Dane eats no more than any other large breed dog.
This page is limited in Great Dane information and I encourage you
to take a journey and learn all about this Majestic breed called "THE GREAT DANE".
